Scribing the Soul by Susan Aldworth

Susan Aldworth’s art explores the nature of consciousness. Since seeing her brain live on a monitor during a diagnostic brain scan in 1999, she has been fascinated by the relationship between the physical brain and the sense of self. She has pursued this elusive subject in collaboration with doctors, scientists and artists, undergoing research brain scans herself to make sense of the material basis of personality. Scribing the Soul is the result of her tracking consciousness over the past seven years.
